The Herbert Irving Child & Adolescent Oncology Center offers patients with cancer and serious blood disorders and their families a unique combination of state-of-the-art treatments and supportive, compassionate care that creates the best possible chance for a cure.
Our commitment to caring for young people with cancer began a century ago with the development of the Babies & Children's Hospital, now known as Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. Caring for a sick child is a process that involves their entire world. We began to think in terms of parents, siblings, and loved ones. We brought together dedicated nurses, therapists, and specialists from many fields. Here, you'll always find a multidisciplinary center of care, where a child can feel better in every possible way.
We are here to care for children who suffer from a broad range of pediatric cancers and blood disorders. Our physicians, skilled in diverse specialties, are nationally recognized. They are experts in their fields and medical leaders.
Our physicians often chair scientific conferences, frequently publish the results of their clinical and basic science research, and stand highly respected in the world of medical technology. The kind of standard for comprehensive consultations that we uphold can only be found at a center with a staff is as experienced and skilled as ours.
The Principles of Our Mission

- To create a family-centered environment for children with cancer and their families.
- To perform clinical and basic science research to increase our understanding of pediatric cancer, for future cures and prevention.
